A lot has happened around Anagram in 2026. The cleanest way to understand it is to separate the firmware everyone can download, the expanding content marketplace, and the newer special-edition hardware.

KosmOS 1.17: TONE3000 moves into the Anagram workflow
Version 1.17 adds a dedicated TONE3000 block and connects Anagram to the TONE3000 library through Darkglass Suite 6.8.0 or newer. Instead of browsing in one place, downloading files and importing them separately, players can discover Tonepacks in Suite and send compatible NAM A2 captures or IRs to the unit.
On Anagram, the TONE3000 block presents gear images, tone details and creator attribution, lets you filter between NAM and IR files inside a Tonepack, and makes it quicker to switch between captures. Favourites can be marked from the block; NAM files expose input and output controls, IRs add blend and level, and both include a six-band EQ. Demo Tonepacks are preloaded so the block can be explored immediately.

The update also renames the block category to Loaders & Utilities and moves User Cabinet, Neural Amp and Neural Pedal into it. Darkglass rounds out the release with category-interface changes, bug fixes and system optimisations.
The foundation beneath 1.17
KosmOS 1.16 still defines the performance map
At launch, Anagram’s three scenes were useful for a simple verse–chorus–lead arrangement. Version 1.16 expands the ceiling to 126 scenes per preset and adds a Scene Manager for organising them.
That changes how a player can build a live set. One preset can now hold multiple song sections, alternate basses, gain stages, ambient tails or MIDI-addressable variations without copying the entire signal chain into a forest of separate presets. Scenes can be reordered by dragging their footswitch indicators, and a new scene begins as a copy of the preset’s saved default scene rather than being created automatically in bulk.

Open neural models
NAM A2 Full and Lite are now part of the live rig
KosmOS 1.16 introduced native Neural Amp Modeler Architecture 2 playback through dedicated Neural Amp, Neural Pedal and miscellaneous loader roles. KosmOS 1.17 keeps A2 Full, A2 Lite and earlier A1 support, then removes the previous fixed three-instance count for the new TONE3000 block so the available DSP becomes the effective limit.
A2 Full gives compatible hardware access to the architecture’s maximum-width playback mode. A2 Lite reduces processing demand from the same A2 model, which can be the smarter choice when a preset also needs pitch, ambience, parallel routing and multiple utilities. The new DSP meters make that trade-off visible rather than theoretical.
Anagram is the playback host; it does not train a NAM capture by itself. Models are created elsewhere, then transferred through Darkglass Suite or another supported file workflow. If the A1/A2 terminology is new, read the Gsus4 NAM A2 guide before building a large library.
Choose Full when
The capture is the centre of the preset
Use the higher-capacity runtime when the model is the main tone and the surrounding chain leaves enough DSP headroom.
Scale with the DSP meter
The complete chain sets the real limit
Use Lite when parallel paths, additional NAM blocks or processing-heavy effects matter more than one maximum-width instance. The published five-Full/nine-Lite figures are TONE3000 test results, not a promise for every preset.

The Anagram Marketplace moves content creation beyond Darkglass’s internal block library. Engineers, plugin developers and sound designers can release Anagram-native tools, while players can expand the machine without replacing the hardware.
Entropia, Darkglass’s three-band distortion plugin, shows the kind of processing the platform can host: independent low, mid and high distortion paths rather than one broadband drive. Marketplace content should still be evaluated item by item. Do not assume every new plugin is included with the hardware, and do not confuse an optional marketplace release with a core KosmOS update.

Important product distinction
Guitar Essentials is real — but it is not the standard Anagram bundle
The limited Anagram Guitar Essentials edition is one of the most visible recent developments. It uses the same underlying platform with exclusive black hardware and a curated package of familiar guitar-style amps and pedals selected with Andertons and Sweetwater.
That does not mean the silver Darkglass Anagram sold by Gsus4 automatically includes the Guitar Essentials collection. Treat it as a separate edition and content bundle. The standard model remains useful for guitar through open NAM files, guitar cabinet IRs, effects and the Marketplace, but buyers should compare the exact included content rather than the processor name alone.

The update is useful because the hardware already connects like a full rig
Anagram combines its software platform with a practical physical layout: stereo quarter-inch and XLR outputs, send/return routing, headphones, TRS Type-A MIDI in and out, USB audio and USB MIDI.
Live bass rig
Bass → Anagram → FOH
Use a model, cabinet/IR and effects inside Anagram, then send balanced XLR to the desk. Keep quarter-inch outputs available for an amplifier, monitoring path or separate wet/dry routing.
Hybrid pedalboard
External pedals in the loop
Place a favourite analogue drive or compressor in the configurable send/return path and position it where the preset needs it. The return can alternatively serve an expression pedal with the required wiring.
Studio and practice
USB-C audio + headphones
Connect Anagram to a computer as a multichannel USB audio interface, monitor through the headphone output and record the processed or routable signals without adding another desktop box.
More foot control
TRS MIDI controller expansion
The 126-scene system becomes more useful with external switching, while 1.17 can send PC/CC on preset or scene activation and pass incoming MIDI through to another device. Explore the Gsus4 Morningstar collection when three onboard switches are not enough for the show.
For current owners
Update deliberately, not five minutes before soundcheck
KosmOS 1.17 is a public release, but it changes content loading, backup and MIDI behaviour. Treat it like a rig change, especially if a current show depends on scene messages, MIDI routing, the looper or external hardware.

Preserve the current rig first
Keep any existing preset exports and note critical output, MIDI and expression settings before changing firmware. After installing 1.17, use the new Suite 6.8.0+ Backup and Restore feature to establish a full recovery point.

Update Darkglass Suite as well as KosmOS
Install Darkglass Suite 6.8.0 or newer to access the expanded TONE3000 catalogue and Backup and Restore support; firmware alone does not unlock the complete desktop workflow.

Use Suite or the official manual-update path
For a manual update, tap the top-right ⋮ button, open About → Manual Update, connect USB-C and copy the downloaded TAR archive to the exposed mass-storage device without extracting it. Eject it safely when finished.

Open old presets and check the DSP meters
Confirm every loader resolves correctly, compare A2 Full with Lite inside the actual chain and resist treating the published maximum NAM counts as a target.

Rehearse every MIDI direction
Check incoming control, outgoing preset/scene PC or CC messages, Through routing and looper CC commands. A successful installation is not the same as a verified performance rig.
Buying decision
Who benefits most from the Anagram now?
Version 1.17 strengthens the reasons to buy, but it does not make Anagram the automatic answer for every player.
