The Canvas Rehearsal from Walrus Audio is an all-in-one guitar practicing solution in pedal-sized form, complete with a metronome, a headphone amp, and an easy-to-read OLED display. You can play along to backing tracks, access a metronome with tap tempo, and listen back to your guitar signal chain — all without unplugging from your rig.
The Canvas Rehearsal is easy to use, too. Its functionality allows you to connect your smartphone, tablet, or laptop either wirelessly via Bluetooth or the 1/8-inch auxiliary input; you can also plug your favourite headphones or in-ear monitors into the 1/8-inch output. Next, dial in the rest of your guitar rig like normal and get ready to get lost in your own world of woodshedding and performance while keeping the peace in your practice space. Finally, the Canvas Rehearsal's buffered output reinvigorates your guitar signal, ensuring your amp or console receives the best tone possible.
An expansive metronome
The Canvas Rehearsal’s built-in metronome functionality is robust and easy to use. The metronome can be configured for both beats per minute and meter, allowing accuracy whether you're practicing pop and country melodies or progressive, odd-time signature riffs. Turning the metronome on and off is as simple as a single tap of the Start/Stop footswitch. The metronome tempo can be set in one of three different ways: 1) using the Tap button on the face of the pedal; 2) pressing and holding the Start/Stop footswitch to ender “Tap Mode”; and 3) tapping in a tempo with the footswitch. You can also configure beat division and accent notes via the Canvas Rehearsal’s user interface.
