The Free The Tone Red Jasper RJ-2V is a refined low-gain overdrive pedal designed to capture the smooth, responsive feel of a great vintage tube amplifier. It delivers smooth highs, punchy mids, full but tight lows and a natural compression feel, making it ideal for players who want expressive drive without losing the character of their guitar.
Originally released as Free The Tone’s first low-gain drive pedal, the Red Jasper returned as the RJ-2V with carefully selected components and improved flexibility. From subtle edge-of-breakup tones to more persistent drive sounds, it responds naturally to picking dynamics and volume control changes, giving players a highly musical overdrive that feels connected under the fingers.
The RJ-2V features a passive HI-CUT tone circuit designed to minimise phase error and preserve the guitar’s natural timbre. It also adds a four-mode low-frequency selector, allowing the lower register response to be adjusted to suit different guitars, amplifiers and playing styles.
Free The Tone’s original HTS circuit is built in to help maintain high sound quality and low noise, even when the pedal is bypassed. With same-phase output, excellent signal-to-noise performance and a focused control layout, the Red Jasper RJ-2V is a premium overdrive for players who value clarity, feel and amp-like response.
