The Thorpy FX The J is a collaboration between ThorpyFX and Lazy J, designed to bring the feel, response and harmonic complexity of the Lazy J20 tweed-style amplifier into a pedalboard-friendly format.

Rather than simply acting like a standard “amp-in-a-box” overdrive, The J is built as an analogue amp emulator. It responds dynamically to your playing, cleans up from the guitar volume, and delivers the warm breakup, touch sensitivity and rich texture associated with classic tweed circuits.

The pedal features two footswitchable channels: Normal and Bright. Each channel has its own gain control, allowing you to move between smoother vintage drive, brighter bite, added saturation and more expressive amp-like breakup. The 12AX7 / 12AY7 voicing switch lets you choose between dirtier, higher-gain response or a cleaner, more open character.

Additional Tone, Response and Supply controls give you deep control over the feel and EQ of the pedal. Response works like a presence-style control, while Supply adjusts the voltage feel for more sag, compression and amp-like dynamics.

Built with a high-quality transformer, 1% metal film resistors, WIMA and Panasonic capacitors where possible, and robust through-hole gold-plated PCBs, The J is made for low noise, reliability and premium tone.

Run it into a clean or relatively clean amp for maximum tweed accuracy, or push it into an already breaking-up amp for your own rich, harmonically complex drive sound.
