Sennheiser HSP Headset Microphone Beige

The Sennheiser HSP Essential Headset Microphone Beige is a professional headset microphone that bridges the gap between the high-end broadcast, music, and theatre microphones and the microphones supplied with the popular evolution wireless series. Featuring an omni-directional KE 4 capsule and an elegant stainless-steel headband that easily adjusts to accommodate a wide range of head sizes. The HSP Essential Omni offers customers a choice of a 3.5 mm jack connector for use with XS Wireless and evolution wireless, or a 3-pin connector (3P versions) for professional wireless series from 2000 to Digital 9000. The 1.3 m cable is firmly attached to the headset and will not get lost or tangled in the middle of an event. Supplied with a pop windshield to help eliminate plosive sounds and wind noise.

The KE 4 condenser capsule generates a warm, distortion-free sound and is resistant against humidity. Thanks to its compact, robust design, the HSP Essential Omni is lightweight (25g), inconspicuous and durable. The material used for its construction is allergy friendly and resistant to sweat and color abrasion.

Headsets: Looking for rehearsal IEM solution

Short story, unless you are planning to use it with a proprietry Sennheiser wireless system, you need to think things through. Once I got it working it works OK. Perhaps the more expensive mics are better, but these seems pitched at professional use and set up by sound techs.
The HSP headset was a learning curve for me. I was not intending to use it with a Sennheiser wireless body pack. Assembling the HSP and getting it adjusted to something I could 'wear' takes a bit of adaptation and experimentation.
I found I needed an adapter to deliver phatom power to the mic at the correct voltage. I tried a Rode adapter first. The Sennheiser adapter wasn't available. The mic has hiss using the Rode adpater. Something to do with leads and polarities. I tried again to find the Sennheiser adapter and located a shop soiled unit. The mic now works well enough. Still some 'hiss' present that can managed by setting audio interface sensitivities. Its not as clean as stage mics.
I'm a vocalist with failing hearing. I rehearse with other musicians. When we play 'live' I use an in ear monitor, which works a treat. But rehearsals are difficult because we rehearse acousticly. So I have been exploring ways to hear myself amongst the mix of violin, bass, guitar and voice. I think I've found an answer: the Senheiser HSP, a portable Focusrite 2i2 audio interface (that does stand-alone monitoring), and the 3DME-BTG2 IEM. All this powered by a USB-C pawer pack.
