The Vemuram SPIRITONE is a signature overdrive pedal developed in collaboration with legendary Japanese guitarist Char. Built around the drive sounds that have shaped Char’s tone over many years, SPIRITONE combines the character of his personally selected Klon Centaur with tonal influences from the boost and gain stages of his Roland CE-1 and Watkins Copicat.

Vemuram and Char spent approximately a year developing, testing and refining multiple prototypes in real-world live environments. Rather than simply recreating an existing overdrive, the goal was to evolve these familiar characteristics into a new and versatile medium-gain drive with Char’s distinctive response and feel.

During development, two prototypes became Char’s favourites, each offering a different tonal character. Instead of choosing one, Vemuram integrated both into SPIRITONE. The standard channel delivers a more vintage tone and feel, while the B-ch Bright Channel provides a brighter, more aggressive response with additional power and a punchier attack. Independent LEVEL controls allow both sounds to be balanced and switched during performance.

Further fine-tuning is available through the SAT trimmer, designed to adjust power-tube-like saturation, along with a switchable input buffer. SPIRITONE also incorporates Vemuram custom components, selected N.O.S. components and distinctive custom ash-white Bakelite knobs.
