As part of the Blackbird lineup, this excellent guitar features an all-mahogany construction, a gorgeous Black Satin finish, and the kind of aesthetics reminiscent of those classic mid-20th century instruments that helped inspire it.

  • Ideal for relative beginners

All Mahogany Construction

True to the guitars that helped inspire it, the Tanglewood Blackbird Folk guitar features a body created entirely from Mahogany.

This body - combined with the careful bracing that offers a tight bottom end bass note and clear, rich high end - delivers the kind of earthy sound that lends itself well to folk music.

Orchestra Model

A traditional folk guitar - also known as an Orchestra Model - sits at the middle point between a full-sized Dreadnought and a classic Parlour model.

Due to their relatively small waist, and high levels of versatility, this particular type of guitar is ideal for adult players that are relatively new to the instrument, where a Parlour may feel too small or a Dreadnought a little too bulky.

Blackbird Series

After the overwhelming success of the Crossroads lineup, Tanglewood developed the Blackbird - a whole new range, visually and tonally inspired by 1940/50s era US-made guitars.

Amongst the aesthetics you will find a vintage ivory ABS binding which resembles Bakelite from the '40s, along with the rich, smoky charcoal stained finish you can see in the above images (dubbed "Smokestack Black").

The end result is a super-affordable guitar that looks and sounds superb, and would make a great first guitar for anyone serious about learning to play.
