Inheriting the DNA of the Smoggy Overdrive
In 2015, the legendary Smoggy Overdrive pedal was created by Mr. Yoshida of Y.O.S. Guitars. 3 Knobs is the orthodox style of overdrive, but its delicate sound tuning is what makes it still the one and only pedal of its kind. The 3 Knob is a traditional style overdrive pedal, but its delicate sound tuning is what makes it unique. Even when the Tone knob is turned down, it still retains its distinctive high-frequency beat and touch. The overdrive has a "smoky" smoggy sound to it.
More and more musicians are using this pedal for its natural smoggy sound. It's so well received that even bassists who don't care for preamps are captivated by it. So, together with Kitada, the main designer of KarDiaN, and Yoshida of Y.O.S. Guitars, the creator of this pedal, we came up with the Smoggy Overdrive... which can be built directly into the instrument itself. The name is "Smoggy Onboard".
The "Smoggy Onboard" is a new product in the Smoggy series and the Character Module series that officially inherits the DNA of the Smoggy Overdrive. The Smoggy Overdrive's delicate sound tuning has been retained, and the development was started with Mr. Yoshida of Y.O.S. Guitars in charge of the adjustments before installation on the guitar itself. The distortion and tone, which are the foundation of the sound, were not changed, and the adjustments were made to keep them within the variable range required for guitar on-boarding, resulting in a product optimized for installation on the guitar itself. The "Smoggy Onboard" is the result of combining the excellent design and S/N ratio of KarDiaN's Character Module series with the sound tuning of Mr. Yoshida of Y.O.S. Guitars.
- CHARACTER MODULE SERIES -
The Character Module Series (hereafter CMS), the backbone of "Smoggy Onboard", is characterized by its "built-in battery mechanism" and "socket replacement". Thanks to this small housing, a 9V battery of the so-called 006P type ( 50 x 26 mm) can be stored in the CMS with only a simple installation process. Furthermore, the "Smoggy Onboard" can be interchanged with other CMS products in the socket without any additional modifications.
This allows you to experience the new playing experience of a character module with as little modification to your precious guitar as possible.
