Memorable lead tones are those that rise above the fray, and the Fulltone Custom Shop Hi-Mu distortion pedal lifts leads skyward with premium high-gain circuitry crafted by hand. Unlike most distortion pedals, the Hi-Mu pedal uses carefully selected JFET transistors rather than clipping diodes, opamps, or digital components. You can feel and hear the difference viscerally, especially when playing through larger amps and speaker cabs. By stacking high-quality JFETs, the Hi-Mu pedal provides dynamic amp-like sensitivity and saturation that’s more than just oodles of gain. Enduring sustain and articulation rivaling high-gain amps are just two outcomes of this successful campaign. And, although the Hi-Mu makes lead riffs scream and sing, the JFET topology has the extraordinary ability to clean up quickly. Rolling back your volume knob or softening your attack yields a smoother tone and less breakup when you want to fall back and blend into the mix. With two EQ parameters; you get a tilt-style EQ knob that adds treble while cutting bass (or vice versa) and a 3-way bass switch that changes bass response globally. These two parameters are highly interactive and capable of extremes that are rich and saturated as well as ear-piercingly brittle and shrill. Lastly, users can power this JFET masterpiece with a 9- or 18-volt power supply (choose 18V for more headroom) or with one 9V battery. Take the lead organically with the high-powered Hi-Mu distortion pedal from Fulltone Custom Shop.
- High-gain distortion made with hand-selected JFETs for amp-like sensitivity and performance
- Crafted in the USA and 100% hand-soldered without opamps, diodes, or digital components
- “Mu-Stack” JFET configuration responds dramatically to technique and volume knob placement
- Add or remove bass frequencies using a 3-way switch (bass changes will be most obvious with the tone knob settings that lean counterclockwise)
- Wide-ranging unconventional EQ knob takes tone from rich glassy depths to sharp ear-piercing aggression (highly interactive with the Hi-Mu’s 3-way bass parameter)
- Sustain works much like a gain control and increases distortion the higher you set it
- Accepts 9–18V power via an external power supply or 9V battery — power at 18V for additional headroom!
