If you’re familiar with the rest of the Phil Jones Bass Compact series then you’ll love the expanded capabilities and precision sonics capable in the Compact Plus BG-450. Rated at 300 watts with its internal PJB speakers, the BG-450 can nevertheless reach 500 watts with an external speaker connected to provide you with maximum power — PJB recommends pairing it with a C4 or C8 cabinet. Despite its small size, this combo amp boasts an impressive low-end response that’s ready to tackle any bass you can throw at it.

At its core, the Compact Plus BG-450 boasts an ultra-high-energy power supply that implements a Class D power amplifier and a Class A preamp. Together, these create a highly efficient system packed with vast dynamic range. The preamp design offers a single channel equipped with a variable gain input to accept both active and passive basses. Plus, the 5-band EQ offers a vast world of culpability, so you can get your tone right in the pocket each performance. A mute switch is also included for quiet moments onstage.

The Phil Jones Bass Compact Plus BG-450 has everything you need to fully connect during rehearsal and gigs. First, you can blend the send/return FX patch to the direct signal for more tonal experimentation. Next, a 1/8-inch stereo jack lets you connect to the amp for practicing along with your favorite tracks and more. A line input and line output further expand possibilities by opening you up for connection to external preamps and use in slave mode with other amps. Bassists can use the balanced DI out either pre- or post-EQ EQ, while a ground-lift switch ensures no annoying hum. Lastly, when its time to connect another cabinet for bigger sound, the speakON NL4 connections will serve you well for impeccable sound quality time and time again.
