The Hosa DMT485 is a DMX512 terminator adaptor designed to properly close a 5-pin XLR daisy chain in lighting and effects control systems. Built by Hosa, a cable manufacturer trusted across live sound and lighting rigs, this terminator incorporates a 120-ohm resistor to safely terminate the signal line, preventing reflections and signal degradation that can occur when a DMX chain ends without proper impedance matching.

The adaptor features a male XLR 5-pin connector for direct integration into the final node of a DMX-512 network. The 120-ohm terminating resistor is the critical specification here–it matches the characteristic impedance of DMX512 cable, ensuring clean signal transmission across the entire chain.
