Ernie Ball Mammoth Slinky Nickel Wound 5-String Electric Bass Strings use a 55–145 gauge combination. Slinky Nickel Wound bass strings use nickel-plated steel winding around hexagonal steel cores. This combination produces a bright, balanced bass sound with the familiar feel of the Slinky range.
The set supplies a defined gauge sequence across all five strings, including the heavier low string. It is a useful way to select the balance between the upper-string feel and the bass-string weight without changing the nickel-wound construction.
