The Electronic Audio Experiments Longsword is a highly flexible op-amp drive and distortion pedal built to cover everything from clean boost and light grit through to thick, aggressive high-gain sounds. Cascaded gain stages provide a huge range of drive while retaining the clarity and tonal control needed to sit properly in a full mix.
A powerful three-band EQ sets the Longsword apart from more conventional overdrives. Low and High shelving controls are paired with an active Mid boost/cut and adjustable Shift control, allowing you to choose exactly where the midrange is shaped. Whether you need to tighten up a dark amp, push guitars forward through dense instrumentation or build a huge low-mid-heavy distortion sound, the Longsword gives you extensive control.
The three-position Diode switch changes the pedal’s clipping response and feel. Choose MOSFET clipping for moderate compression, remove the clipping diodes for maximum headroom and an open response, or select silicon clipping for a more compressed and saturated character. A dedicated footswitchable Boost circuit sits at the front end and provides up to 20dB of additional gain for pushing the Longsword into heavier territory.
With its broad frequency response, the Longsword works equally well with guitar, baritone and bass. The latest V4.6 revision also introduces intelligent momentary/latching footswitch operation and improvements to reduce switching noise, making an already versatile drive platform even more refined.
