Gsus4 buying guide · Updated 12 October 2026
Choose pedalboard power around the devices you need to run. The CIOKS DC7 V2 offers seven individually adjustable pedal outputs. The Walrus Audio Canvas Power HP puts a dedicated 3A output alongside three conventional pedal outputs. Canvas Power HP+ adds a second high-current output and room for a larger rig.
This guide compares their connections and practical trade-offs. Follow the product links for current Australian pricing, availability and included mains accessories.
Start with your power list: record each device’s required voltage, minimum supply current, polarity and connector. Count the outputs you need, then check the whole system’s power budget and mounting space.

DC7 V2 vs Canvas Power HP vs HP+
| Supply | DC outputs and USB | Best fit to consider |
|---|---|---|
| CIOKS DC7 V2 | Seven isolated outputs, each selectable at 9V/660mA, 12V/500mA, 15V/400mA or 18V/330mA. USB-C: 5V/3A. Separate 24V AUX. | Pedals needing a mix of voltages, with a built-in mains inlet and compatible expansion options. |
| Canvas Power HP | Four isolated DC outputs: one 9V/12V, 3A output; three 9V, 500mA outputs. No USB charging output. | One high-current modeller plus a few pedals. The AU standalone listing includes its external power brick. |
| Canvas Power HP+ | Ten isolated DC outputs: two 9V/12V, 3A; seven 9V, 500mA; one 9V/12V/18V variable output. USB-C: 5V/1.5A. | More pedals or two high-current devices, with space for a longer enclosure and external brick. |
These are individual outlet ratings, not a promise that every outlet can run at maximum simultaneously. The supply’s total capacity still applies.
Choose the DC7 V2 for flexible pedal outputs
Consider the DC7 when your board mixes 9V pedals with devices requiring 12V, 15V or 18V. Each of its seven pedal outputs has its own voltage selection. One output does not provide 3A: a large modeller may need a manufacturer-approved combining or converter arrangement.

What changed from the original DC7?
The V2 replaces the original 5W USB-A port with a 15W USB-C port and updates internal efficiency. The seven selectable pedal outputs and 24V expansion approach remain. If your existing DC7 already powers the board comfortably, USB-C alone may not justify replacing it.
USB-C here means 5V at up to 3A. Do not assume it supplies 9V, 12V or laptop charging simply because the connector is USB-C. Check the connected device’s power requirements.

The manual specifies a shared load limit: up to 42W from the pedal and USB outlets, or up to 48W from AUX alone. Mixed loads follow the manual’s calculation, so expansion does not add unlimited power. See the DC7 V2 manual when planning a full board.
Choose Canvas Power HP for a dedicated high-current output
The standard HP suits a board centred on one demanding device. Its high-current outlet switches between 9V and 12V while the remaining three outlets stay at 9V. This is a different layout from DC7’s seven adjustable outputs, so count your conventional pedals before choosing.

HP, HP+ and Link: what is the difference?
HP+ expands the layout to two 3A outputs, seven fixed 9V outputs and one variable output. That last outlet provides up to 500mA at 9V, 375mA at 12V or 250mA at 18V. The standalone HP uses a 48W brick; the HP+ standalone specification lists a 96W brick.
Link describes the power-source package. A Canvas Link unit is supplied without a mains power brick and needs a suitable existing power source. Check the exact listing rather than assuming a Link package is ready to plug into the wall.
Powering Quad Cortex: check the current specification
Neural DSP’s current Quad Cortex manual calls for 12V DC, centre-negative, with a supply providing at least 3A. The HP and HP+ high-current outlets have a matching 12V/3A rating. Select 12V and use the correct connector and polarity cable; follow the device and supply manuals before powering up.
CIOKS markets CRUX with DC7 for Quad Cortex, while its published 12V output rating is 2A. That differs from Neural DSP’s current 3A supply requirement. Confirm that specific combination with the manufacturers; do not treat a 2A arrangement as the same current capacity as a dedicated 3A output.
Likewise, “HX” covers several Line 6 devices. Check your exact model rather than applying one voltage or cable recommendation to the whole range.
Expansion and cables: check more than the plug shape
A 24V link connection is for compatible power-system equipment. It is not a 24V feed to connect directly to a 9V or 12V pedal. Matching connector shapes alone do not establish compatibility: voltage, polarity, allowable current and total load all matter.
CIOKS Flex cable colours and Walrus cable colours follow their own conventions. In the DC7 V2 kit, the green Type 4 cable is a 5.5/2.5mm centre-positive cable. Select the cable by its specification, not by colour or diameter alone. A current doubler and a voltage doubler also perform different jobs.
Which one would we shortlist?
- Several conventional pedals with different voltages: shortlist DC7 V2 and check each output’s current limit.
- One device needing 9V or 12V at up to 3A, plus a small pedal chain: shortlist Canvas Power HP.
- A larger hybrid board: compare HP+ against a compatible DC7 expansion arrangement, including cables, power budget and mounting space.
For other layouts, browse pedalboard power supplies, including Strymon Zuma R300, Klowra VIRES and Voodoo Lab Pedal Power 3. Their outlet layouts differ; they are not interchangeable connection instructions.
