A good compressor should be felt and not heard!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eDUAL COMPRESSION – AKA SLIDE MODE\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen set to compression preset 5 or “Slide Mode” the aux compressor circuit is activated and placed in series ahead of the primary compressor. The tonal result of using two compressors in series is that notes will sustain almost endlessly and oftentimes break out into harmonic feedback while still remaining clear and clean! It ‘feels’ like you have an overdrive pedal on but the tone is still clean with endless sustain!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eHidden inside the Bloom, is a auxiliary compressor circuit that is identical to the main compressor circuit however without externally mounted controls. This aux compressor, which is set with a fast attack of 7.5ms, has two trimmers mounted on the right side of the pedal and are accessible when the cover is removed. These trimmers allow you to adjust the COMP and VOLUME settings of the aux compressor when using compression presets 5 and 6. More on compression presets later.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003ch2\u003eCLEAN BLEND\u003c\/h2\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhen more subtlety is desired from the compression circuit, we have included a BLEND control that allows the player to blend in their clean, unaffected signal back in with the compressed signal. One of the best features of the Blend control is that it allows the player to dial in a really aggressive compression setting and then blend some of their clean signal back in with it. Since many guitarists will swap guitars but keep the same pedalboard and amp, we wanted to create a tool that would allow the players to re-voice their rigs for the guitar chosen and the +\/-15dB active EQ in the PRISM accomplishes this with ease.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis active EQ gives an incredible amount of tonal control and range and has ZERO interaction between the BODY and TONE controls. Having ZERO interaction means as the player adjusts the TONE it will only adjust the high frequency response and not cause the low frequencies to shift and the same is true for the BODY control.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003ePerhaps the most useful feature of the active EQ in the PRISM is that when placed at the front of the players rig and used as a master EQ, the PRISM will allow the player to dial in their tone using ONE pedal and will prevent them from having to adjust the EQ of every pedal in their rig when changing guitars, amps or venues.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003eBOOST\/PREAMP\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eAs a boost\/preamp the PRISM contains three of the most distinct voices of boosts available. A transparent clean boost with no tonal coloring (TRANS), a boost that emulates a vacuum tube amp (AMP) and finally the boost circuit that started it all, the silicon treble booster (COLOR). These three circuits represent over 50 years of guitar effects from the earliest guitar pedal ever made to the more modern transparent voiced circuits.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach boost\/preamp circuit in the PRISM is totally discrete and shares ZERO circuitry with the other boost circuits. We did this so that each circuit would be completely true to its own voice and not have to compromise its sound for the sake of cost cutting or space economy. In fact every circuit is contained in its own true bypass loop so there is never any additional circuitry in the signal path.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTraditionally most players will use a boost\/preamp pedal to drive the front end of a tube amp into overdrive and the PRISM does this very well given its huge amount of output however we encourage players to experiment by placing the PRISM at the front of their pedalboards and enjoy the host of new tones available as the PRISM boosts their existing pedals!\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNote: To take full advantage of the PRISM we recommend placing it first in the signal chain as its active EQ will be most effective in that position and the treble booster circuit (COLOR) works best when connected directly to the guitars output. Treble booster circuits in general are known for cleaning up very dramatically when rolling back the volume control on the guitar and the PRISM is no different. If you're familiar with Drew's rig, he has always run super small, low-wattage amps, and run them wide-open to get his signature overdriven sound. The BELLE STARR was designed to recreate these tones.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eNot a high-gain overdrive, the BELLE STARR is a low\/mid gain overdrive circuit that has the smooth and natural breakup that is characteristic in smaller, non-negative feedback amps. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTo make the overdrive as natural-sounding and amp-like as possible, we incorporated a unique clipping circuit (the part of the circuit that distorts the signal) and features MOSFET transistors instead of traditional silicon diodes. When used in a clipping circuit, the MOSFET transistors produce a very smooth and amp-like overdrive.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe overdrive range on the BELLE STARR is so evenly spread out across the range of the GAIN control that it goes from absolutely clean to medium gain with no unusual jumps in the dynamic response. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eOver the 8 months that we spent dialing in the BELLE STARR, we have tried it with every variation of amp we could get our hands on. Fender, Marshall, Vox and of course our own Jackson amps. A transparent clean boost with no tonal coloring (TRANS), a boost that emulates a vacuum tube amp (AMP) and finally the boost circuit that started it all, the silicon treble booster (COLOR). These three circuits represent over 50 years of guitar effects from the earliest guitar pedal ever made to the more modern transparent voiced circuits.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eEach boost\/preamp circuit in the PRISM is totally discrete and shares ZERO circuitry with the other boost circuits. We did this so that each circuit would be completely true to its own voice and not have to compromise its sound for the sake of cost cutting or space economy.
